This imposing gateway to New York was designed in the Beaux-Arts style by a
consortium of architects and financed by Cornelius Vanderbilt's New York Central
Railroad
at a cost of $80 million. Some half a million passengers per day cross
the recently restored Grand Concourse. N.Y.C. Landmark September 21, 1967.
